Dr. David A. Townsend

Analyst Dr. Townsend’s recent research interests explore the ontogeny
of human memory and learning focusing on associative learning,
transitivity, and long-term memory in preverbal infants. Additionally,
Dr. Townsend has been investigating the moral development of
individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how such
development is integrated within the framework of Theory of Mind.
He is particularly interested in non-reinforcement based learning and
how such memories are encoded, stored and activated. In addition,
he has explored how the behaviorally silent learning of adults evolves
from the learning and memory abilities of infants across species, and
whether the rules of memory processing are the same or different:
developmentally, phenotypically, neuronally, and physiologically.
